A dynamic, automated web application and calendar synchronization service designed to provide Formula 1 enthusiasts with real-time racing schedules and post-race data directly inside their preferred calendar apps.
Technical Overview & Architecture
- Framework & Hosting: Built using Next.js and deployed on Vercel to deliver a fast, globally-distributed serverless web interface and API infrastructure.
- Automated Data Pipeline: Implements an automated live-data background worker that polls racing data and refreshes the database every 15 minutes (or 3 minutes during race day), ensuring real-time accuracy without manual intervention.
- Dynamic iCalendar API: Features a custom API endpoint that dynamically generates and serves personalized
.ics(iCalendar) files, passing custom query parameters tailor the user's feed.
Key Features
- Comprehensive Session Coverage: Full schedule coverage for the entire F1 season, tracking all weekend events including Free Practice (FP1–FP3), Sprint Qualifying, Sprints, Main Qualifying, and Grand Prix sessions.
- Smart Event Metadata: Automatically appends top-three finishers to event descriptions right after the checkered flag drops, alongside essential race details like circuit names, cities, and countries.
- Universal Calendar Compatibility: Provides native, one-click subscription paths and secure URL feeds fully compatible with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook (Outlook.com / Microsoft 365).
